The Dr.-Streiter-Gasse (also Dr.-Joseph-Streiter-Gasse or Streitergasse ; Italian Via Dr. Streiter ) is a street in the old town area of the South Tyrolean capital Bolzano . It is named after the former mayor Joseph Streiter .

The slightly curved street with its house front forms the back of the Laubengasse , of which it is the northern parallel street. At the western end, the street joins the northern section of the Obstplatz , at the eastern end it connects to Bindergasse .

Dr.-Streiter-Gasse was built on the northern city moat that was filled in in the 13th century and was called Hintergasse in the 13th and 14th centuries and Karnergasse from the late 15th century . In 1901 it was named after the meritorious mayor Dr. Streiter, in the era of fascism in the course of Italianization in 1929 monolingual to Via dei Carrettai and renamed again in 1951 after J. Streiter.

In the western part of the street, a pointed arch spans the street, and it is vaulted by the so-called Peterssaal , part of the late Gothic Thurn residence . The oil house adjoins it to the east. In the westernmost section are the fish banks with a stone fish kettle from the early 19th century.

In the middle of the southern street is the north facade of the old town hall , which is connected to the arbors as a through-house .

The stretch of road is the seat of the only cinemas of Bolzano, of the film club Bozen / Bolzano -run, with three halls equipped Capitol cinema.

Dr.-Streiter-Gasse is part of Bolzano's pedestrian zone , but taxis and (at certain times) suppliers and residents can use it in a westerly direction.
