The Dradura Holding GmbH & Co. KG (proper spelling: DRADURA ; formerly Drahtzug Stein and 2019 wire drawing ) an internationally operating German's group of companies of the metal industry . Ten sub-companies are combined under the umbrella of the holding company based in Altleiningen in the Rhineland-Palatinate district of Bad Dürkheim . The parent company is located in the north-eastern Palatinate Forest .

history

In 1423 the mining of copper and iron ore began in the Altleininger Valley . In 1729 Johann Nikolaus II. Gienanth leased an iron smelter from the Count of Leiningen . In 1811 Napoleon Bonaparte granted permission to build a wire train in Altleiningen, which in 1860 became the property of a Kuhn family. In 1941 Georg Stein took over wire drawing, the production of which at that time included pins and chains.

In 1948 he expanded the product range and acquired new machines. In 1957 the company started producing wire items. The limited partnership Drahtwarenfabrik Drahtzug Stein emerged from the company in 1961 . A year later, the production of dishwasher baskets began . In 1964, the company developed a process for the production of closed cored wire, which went into production two years later.

In 1973, the company founded its first subsidiary Drahtzug Stein saprofil (Société Sablase de Produits en Fil de Fer) in France . This company is located in Olonne-sur-Mer on the Atlantic coast . With modern production facilities, it became the French market leader for galvanized and plastic-coated wire items for the household appliance industry. In 1975 the patent for a basket spool for welding wire was registered. In 1997 the independent marketing of welding consumables began .

In 2000 the company acquired a stake in the Califil company in France. The Drahtzug Stein was in a 2001 Holding converted. In 2003, Drahtzug Stein Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH was founded . The following year was the Polish Łódź , the company DSWI spzoo (now Drahtzug Stein Lodz ) as a joint venture with the company Wire Industries established. With these measures, Drahtzug Stein followed the relocation of production in the household appliance industry to Eastern Europe . Production in Lodz began in 2005. In 2006, Drahtzug Stein took over key areas of its competitor Wire Industries ; only its Italian and Spanish brands, omim and come , will be continued independently. The production area in Łódź was quadrupled in 2007. In 2005 the subsidiary Drahtzug Stein spb was founded in St. Petersburg , in 2007 Drahtzug Stein USA Corp. in the USA and in 2008 Drahtzug Stein Combicore in Altleiningen. Combicore has not been part of the group of companies since 2016 , but operates independently in Kirchheimbolanden under the name TubroTec . The cored wire cores are sold by the independent Combicore .

After 75 years in the possession of the Stein family, Drahtzug - formerly Drahtzug Stein - passed to new owners in November 2016. The private equity investor Emeram Capital Partners acquired the majority in the Drahtzug Group. After a transition phase, the new management with Matthias Grundmann took over the business in April 2017. On July 1, 2019, the name of the company was changed to Dradura , which, according to the company's own statement, had been planned since the takeover in November 2016.
