The three- striped warbler ( Basileuterus tristriatus ) is a small songbird from the genus Basileuterus in the family of the warbler (Parulidae).

features

The wing length is 5.9 to 6.3 centimeters in the male and 5.8 to 6.2 centimeters in the female. Adult three-lined warbler and young birds from the first year on have a yellow to yellow- orange stripe on the head, black stripes on the head and a wide superciliar stripe that extends to the neck and is white to yellow depending on the subspecies. In many subspecies there is a crescent-shaped yellow stripe below the eye, eye and cheek stripes are black and merge behind the eye. The upper side plumage varies in the subspecies from olive-green to olive-brown to gray-olive; the underside plumage is yellow.

Occurrence

The distribution area extends from Costa Rica through Panama , Colombia , Venezuela , Ecuador , Peru to Bolivia . Three-lined wood warblers inhabit mountain rainforests , cloud and cloud forests and forest edges at altitudes of 300 to 2700 meters; are mostly found between 1000 and 2000 meters. The subspecies Basileuterus t. punctipectus also occurs up to heights of 3000 meters.
