Publications
Manga
The manga series of the mangaka Shigenobu Matsumoto was published in Japan in the issues 5/1999 to 3/2005 in individual chapters in the manga magazine CoroCoro Comic , which is aimed at elementary school students. The Shogakukan publishing house also published these individual chapters in 17 anthologies ( Tankōbon ).
The following edition 4/2005 then started with Duel Masters FE ( デ ュ エ ル ・ マ ス タ ー ズ FE), where FE stands for Fighting Edge , which ran until edition 6/2008. From August 26, 2005 to November 27, 2008, the chapters were summarized in 12 volumes.
This in turn was followed immediately by Duel Masters SX ( デ ュ エ ル ・ マ ス タ ー ズ SX), where SX stands for Star Cross , which was summarized in nine anthologies from February 26, 2009 to April 25, 2011.

US machining
The first 65 episodes were adapted and heavily edited by Cartoon Network for the US market. The plot was changed and made more comic-like by targeting typical or supposed anime clichés, incorporating US pop cultural references or breaking through the fourth wall , e.g. B. in the Shōbu notes that the camera is too close or complains about the script. In addition, split screens and the aspect with Shōbus missing father figure were added. The term Kaijudo , derived from Kaijū , also comes from the English version, although it is a Japanese word and does not appear in Japanese. The US version was also adopted by RTL II for the German market.
The series was also broadcast on television in French, Spanish, Portuguese, Danish and Tagalog.
