Dunfermline East was a constituency for the Scottish Parliament . It was introduced in 1999 as one of nine constituencies in the electoral region of Mid Scotland and Fife , which was redesigned as part of the constituency revision in 2011 and continues to include nine constituencies. Here the constituency of Dunfermline East was abolished. It included east and north of Dunfermline lying areas of the Council Area Fife with the cities of Cowdenbeath , Dalgety Bay and Inverkeithing . The areas of the former constituency were largely absorbed by the new constituencies of Cowdenbeath and Dunfermline . In the 2001 census survey, a total of 67,166 people lived within its borders. A deputy was sent.
