Dzielnica X Swoszowice is the tenth district of Krakow in Poland , it covers an area of 25.6 km² and has 28,176 inhabitants with a population density of 1,100.6 inhabitants / km². The district was created in 1990 by dividing the Podgórze district . It is named after the spa town of Swoszowice .
In the years 2003 to 2005, public consultation on renaming the city districts was introduced. For the Dzielnica X, the addition Kraków Południe (Kraków-South) was initially proposed, but in May 2006 the city administration decided on the name Swoszowice. On September 26, 2006, the Swoszowice district was spun off as the first and only administrative unit in Krakow from an urban district under the name Osiedle Uzdrowisko Swoszowice in order to facilitate the activity of the spa.
