The Dzogchen Monastery ( Tib . : rdzogs chen dgon pa ) was founded in 1685 by Pema Rigdzin (Tib .: pad ma rig 'dzin ; 1625–1697), the first “ Dzogchen Rinpoche ”, and by Namkha Ösel (Tib .: nam mkha '' od gsal ;? –1726), the first " Dzogchen Pönlop Rinpoche " (abbot of the Dzogchen monastery). It is located in Dêgê (or Derge; Tib . : sde dge ) County of the Kardze Autonomous District of Tibet in northwest China's Sichuan Province .
The Dzogchen monastery tradition is a sub-school of the Nyingma tradition of Tibetan Buddhism . Along with Kathog , Mindrölling , Pelyül , Shechen and Dorje Drag, Dzogchen is one of the so-called “six large seats” of the Nyingma. The tradition goes back to the Dzogchen monastery in Dêgê, Kham .
The monastery quickly became one of the great traditions within the Nyingma School. The famous monastic teaching institute Shri Singha was connected to the Dzogchen monastery .
Lessons and teachers
The teachings passed on from the Dzogchen tradition are the teachings of Sutra and Tantra , especially the oral teachings of the Nyingma (Kama). Dzogchen , the teaching on the so-called "Great Perfection" is a central element of the teaching of this tradition. One of the most important teachers of this tradition was Patrül Rinpoche (1808-1887), an accomplished master and author who greatly influenced the teachings of the Nyingma and who is considered to be the incarnation of Jigme Lingpas (1729-1798), as well as Khenpo Shenga Rinpoche (1871-1927 ).
