Earl Jerrod Rowland (born May 18, 1983 in Salinas (California) , USA ) is an American basketball player with Bulgarian citizenship.
Career
The 1.91 m tall and 92 kg heavy point guard began his studies at the CSU Dominguez Hills , for whose college team Toros he played in the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division II. After a year he returned to Salinas , where he had also gone to high school, and was enrolled at the Hartnell Community College there. In 2003 he moved to Saint Mary's College in Moraga, California, and played for the Gaels in Division I of the NCAA. In his senior year 2005, the Gaels were able to qualify for the national final of the NCAA for the first time after a break of several years , in which, however, they were eliminated in the first round.
After finishing his studies in 2005 Rowland played a year in the NBA Development League for the Florida Flame , whose franchise was discontinued at the end of the season. For the 2006/07 season he moved to Australia to the Crocodiles from Townsville . After the end of the season he went to the Barons LMT Rīga in Latvia .
For the 2007/2008 season Rowland moved to the Artland Dragons in Germany, with whom he was able to win the German Cup in 2008 . In summer 2008 he then signed a contract with runner-up Telekom Baskets Bonn for the 2008/2009 season. Thanks to his height and his strong physique, Rowland developed into one of the best point guards in the basketball league in the 2008/2009 season and knew how to convince with both decisive points and strong defense. Rowland played a key role in the fact that Telekom Baskets Bonn could reach a playoff final for the fifth time, and he was also able to improve his individual statistics.
Due to his good performance in Bonn, clubs from abroad also became aware of Rowland and so Rowland signed a contract with Soresina in Italy for the 2009/2010 season. After two years, Rowland moved to Spain to Unicaja Málaga . After one season he moved back to the Latvian Riga for the 2012/13 season, where he played for champions VEF.
After a season in Riga, however, he did not receive a new contract and moved to Turkey to first division club Banvit BK .
