Eberhard Haarmann
Eberhard Haarmann (* 1736 in Holthausen (near Breckerfeld ), † 1817 in Barmen ) was a German wood carver and builder . Preserved structures are protected as architectural monuments.
Live and act
Eberhard Haarmann, also called Eberhard Haarmann the Elder, came from Holthausen, which today belongs to Breckerfeld , in the north-western Sauerland . Under Nicolas de Pigage (1723–1796) he was involved in the construction of Benrath Palace and the new Jägerhof in Düsseldorf from 1755 to 1771 . In Barmen and Elberfeld , which are now part of Wuppertal as districts , he built several patrician houses in the Bergisch late baroque style with elements of Rococo and Classicism . Many houses were destroyed in the night of May 29th to 30th, 1943 in the air raid on Barmen . As patrician houses, however, numerous historical photographs of them have been preserved.
