Eberhard clunkers (* 16th April 1952 in Herzberg (Mark) ) is a German merger - guitarist and composer .

Live and act

Klunker is self-taught and in 1971 - at the age of 19 - he succeeded guitarist Hansi Biebl in the Modern Soul Band . At the same time, he acquired a professional certificate as a professional musician at the Friedrichshain Music School . He met Klaus Lenz through the Modern Soul Band and undertook numerous tours through the GDR with his big band , in which the singers Veronika Fischer , Christiane Ufholz and Uschi Brüning and the singer Klaus Nowodworski also participated. For a short time he was engaged by Theo Schumann and then switched to the Hansi Biebl Blues Band in 1974 , with whom he recorded the LP Savannah in 1975 .

At the beginning of September 1975 he and his friend, the drummer and guitarist Olaf Wegener, who also belonged to the Hansi Biebl Blues Band , undertook a spectacular escape from the GDR . At nightfall, both of them rowed from the island of Poel in a rubber dinghy to the Bay of Lübeck , where they went ashore near Dahme the following day . They needed a total of 16 hours for the distance of about 40 kilometers.

Eberhard Klunker then took up residence in West Berlin , where he and other GDR refugees founded the band Windminister , which made its first appearance on January 12, 1980 in the Latin Quarter at Potsdamer Strasse 96. Today he lives in Berlin-Marienfelde and performs mostly with acoustic guitar, often solo.
