Eberschütz ( Low German : Äwerschütte ) with around 500 inhabitants is a formerly independent municipality in the northern Hessian district of Kassel and has been part of the city of Trendelburg since the Hessian regional reform .
geography
The village of Eberschütz is located in the Diemel valley and extends on the left bank of the Diemel. The cliffs are south of the village. The Wilhelminian four-storey brick mill stood directly on the Diemel in the southeast. In the center of the village is the Romanesque church, which is surrounded by the churchyard.
history
The place was mentioned in a document as "Everschütte" in 1047 and celebrated its 950th anniversary in 1997. From the 12th century, the lords of Eberschütz (later: von Schöneberg ) are mentioned in historical sources. The main livelihood of the village population in the 18th and 19th centuries was, in addition to agriculture, linen weaving . The largest steel construction company in the city of Trendelburg should also be emphasized, which has its origins in a forge for generations. A modern wind farm at the height between Eberschütz and Muddenhagen generates alternative energy.
On December 31, 1970 , in the course of the regional reform in Hesse, the municipality of Eberschütz merged with six other previously independent municipalities and the small town of Trendelburg to form the expanded town of Trendelburg . They make up today's districts . The city administration is located in the core town of Trendelburg.
Eberschützer cliffs
"Eberschützer Klippen" is the name of a steep mountain ridge south of the village. Here you can find the remains of an old prehistoric refuge. The railway line (formerly called Friedrich-Wilhelms-Nordbahn ) runs near the cliffs.
