Deisel is a district of the small town Trendelburg in the north Hessian district of Kassel .

geography

The place is in the Weser Uplands a good 25 meters above the valley of the Diemel on its western bank. Deisel is located 5 kilometers south of the Weser near Herstelle near the borders with North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony . The Reinhardswald lies to the east , and the Warburger Börde extends to the west . The place is 3 kilometers north of the core town of Trendelburg; Bad Karlshafen is 6 kilometers northeast, Paderborn 45 kilometers northwest, Höxter 20 kilometers north, Göttingen 36 kilometers east and Kassel 31 kilometers south (all information as the crow flies ).

history

The area around Deisel was inhabited in prehistoric times, which still remains of a hill fort testify, the west are the place on the 249-meter high castle hill. Deisel was first mentioned in a document in 1005/1006.

On December 31, 1970 , as part of the regional reform in Hesse, the municipality of Deisel merged with six other previously independent municipalities and the small town of Trendelburg to form the expanded town of Trendelburg . They make up today's districts . The city administration is located in the core town of Trendelburg.

The federal highway 83 runs through the village, which runs from Kassel via Trendelburg and Deisel to Bad Karlshafen and from here further north through the Weser valley . The next motorway junctions are at Warburg and Breuna on the A 44 and at Göttingen, Nörten-Hardenberg and Northeim on the A 7 .

Regional train stations are in Hofgeismar , Hümme and Bad Karlshafen. The next train stations with IC and / or ICE trains are in Warburg , Kassel and Göttingen. International airports are located near Hanover and Paderborn .

Economic structure

Agriculture has lost its importance in the meantime, but it is still an economic factor, as there is no industry in the village, only a few small craft businesses and tourism is of little importance compared to neighboring towns.
