Eckart Haupt

Eckart Haupt (born November 2, 1945 in Zittau , Saxony ) is a German flautist , university professor and orchestra musician . The Staatskapelle Dresden described him on their homepage as one of the “leading flutists of the present”.

Life

Haupt grew up in Görlitz . He later studied in Dresden with Fritz Rucker (flute) and Manfred Weiss ( composition ) and in Leipzig with Erich List (flute). He had his first jobs in Dessau and Berlin . In 1970 he was hired by Kurt Masur as solo flutist in the Dresden Philharmonic . In 1981 Herbert Blomstedt gave him a job as solo flutist in the Staatskapelle Dresden , where he played until his retirement in 2010. Solo concerts in Europe , Japan , the Middle East , South America and the USA followed. Since 1992 he has played as solo flutist in the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra .

Eckart Haupt has a wide-ranging repertoire from the baroque to the modern. He co-edited historical sources for Peters and Hofmeister Leipzig (among others by Johann Joachim Quantz and his teacher Pierre-Gabriel Buffardin as well as the Viennese composer and pianist Leopoldine Blahetka ). His recordings are award-winning. The recordings with works by Johann Sebastian Bach and Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach were considered exemplary. Haupt holds a professorship at the Dresden University of Music . Some of his students have found work as flutists in the major orchestras in Germany. He is director of international master classes. Eckart Haupt received numerous prizes and honors, for example the 1996 Fritz Busch Prize .

2010 doctorate Eckart Haupt on the subject of the introduction of the Boehm flute in the Dresden Court Orchestra at the Academy of Music Carl Maria von Weber Dresden to Dr. phil. The revised version of the text was published in 2011 as Volume 2 of the Studies on Dresden Musical Life in the 19th Century by Verlag Dohr .

Eckart Haupt also deals with painting and graphics, works by him have already been publicly exhibited several times. a. 2011 in the series "Painting musicians - musicians making music" of the State Music Academy of Saxony in Colditz Castle .
