Eckel ( Low German Eekel ) is a place in the Lower Saxony community of Rosengarten in the Harburg district .
geography
Eckel is located 5 km north of Buchholz and 25 km south of Hamburg on the edge of the Harburg Mountains and the Lüneburg Heath .
The Neu Eckel and Eikstüve districts also belong to the village of Eckel.
The area of Eckel is located in the Rosengarten Regional Park .
Neighboring places
Eckel borders the Vaensen in the west, Buensen in the south (both in the town of Buchholz in the Nordheide), Klecken in the east and Nenndorf in the north (both in the municipality of Rosengarten).
history
Eckel originally consisted of the two communities Eckel and Eikstüve , which were merged into one community Eckel in 1928/29. On July 1, 1972, Eckel was incorporated into the municipality of Nenndorf. The name of this municipality was officially changed to Rosengarten on July 18, 1973 .
The village of Eckel has its own volunteer fire brigade, a rifle club, the Union Eckel sports club, a division of the German Red Cross and the Eckel chess club.
