Eckel ( Low German Eekel ) is a place in the Lower Saxony community of Rosengarten in the Harburg district .

Eckel is located 5 km north of Buchholz and 25 km south of Hamburg on the edge of the Harburg Mountains and the Lüneburg Heath .

The Neu Eckel and Eikstüve districts also belong to the village of Eckel.

Eckel originally consisted of the two communities Eckel and Eikstüve , which were merged into one community Eckel in 1928/29. On July 1, 1972, Eckel was incorporated into the municipality of Nenndorf. The name of this municipality was officially changed to Rosengarten on July 18, 1973 .
