Eckhard Thorun (* 1938 ) is a former German wrestler .

Career

Eckhard Thorun comes from Stettin and started wrestling as a teenager in Warnemünde . Due to his success he was delegated to BSG Motor Warnemünde . Thorun, who had learned the metalworking trade, specialized in the Greco-Roman style after initially struggling in both styles. In 1956 he was GDR youth champion in the class up to 51 kg body weight. In his first year as a senior, he won 3rd place in the flyweight category at the GDR championship in 1957, behind E. Voigt from Wismut Aue and S. Debnar from SC Chemie Halle-Leuna . In 1958 he was the first GDR flyweight champion in Greco-Roman. Style. Eckhard Thorun then moved to SC Lokomotive Leipzig , which became SC Leipzig in 1963 .

After the end of his active wrestling career, Eckhard Thorun moved to Dessau, where he worked as a master locksmith and trained the youth in the local wrestling club.
