Hartmut Puls (born January 25, 1941 in Konitz / West Prussia ) is a former German wrestler and vice European champion in 1967 in Greco-Roman. Bantamweight style.

Career

Hartmut grew after the Second World War in Teltow and began in 1957 at the BSG Motor Babelsberg with the rings . He was later delegated to SC Chemie Halle-Leuna . In the further course of the concentration in sport in the GDR on a few performance centers, he then came to SG Dynamo Luckenwalde . Already in 1960 he was for the all-German Olympic elimination in Greco-Roman. Flyweight style nominated. He only finished 4th there behind the much more experienced wrestlers Paul Neff from Schifferstadt , Rolf Lacour from Köllerbach and others. Epperlein from Aue .

In Luckenwalde, under the guidance of trainer Rolf Wielkowski, he steadily improved his performance over the next few years and from 1964 was one of the best wrestlers in Europe in the bantamweight Greek-Roman. Style. First, however, Eckhard Thorun from SC Leipzig blocked the way to the international championships. In the all-German Olympic elimination for the Games in Tokyo in 1964, only one participant from the two German wrestling associations started in each weight class. From the GDR this was Thorun. In 1965 Hartmut Puls was used at the World Championships in Tampere , where he finished 9th.

At the next international championship in which he took part, the 1967 European championship in Minsk , Hartmut was in excellent shape, scored three victories and was only defeated by the former Hungarian world champion János Varga . The silver medal was the reward for his good performance.

In the following years he started internationally until 1968 and also took part in the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City , but could no longer place himself in the front field. His "draw" at the 1967 World Cup against the reigning world champion Fritz Stange from Untertürkheim was remarkable .
