Edi Huber

Eduard "Edi" Huber (born February 14, 1927 in Zurich ; † August 16, 2016 there ) was a Swiss actor and director .

Life

Huber completed an apprenticeship as a typesetter from 1943 to 1947 and worked in the profession he had learned until 1959. In addition, he took private acting lessons from Ellen Widmann , Adolf Manz and Heinz Woester .

From 1953 to 1957 he was a member of the Zurich Chamber Choir. In 1959 he made his debut as an actor and assistant director with the Zurich Drama Company . In December 1961 he had his first engagement at the Bernhard Theater in Zurich, where he repeatedly worked as an actor and director until 1989.

In 1964 at the Theater am Hechtplatz he worked alongside Jörg Schneider , Ruedi Walter , Margrit Rainer , Paul Bühlmann and Ines Torelli in the successful musical Bibi Balù by Karl Suter and was seen in several of Suter's musicals in the following years.

Between 1989 and 1999 Huber was no longer active as an actor because he saw no more development opportunities for himself. In 1999 he celebrated his stage comeback at the Bernhard Theater in Derek Benfield's comedy “Ine oder use”.

Until 2015, Huber worked as a director for the Friesenberg theater group for twenty years . He died on August 16, 2016 in Zurich after persistent health problems.
