Edinburgh Southern is a constituency for the Scottish Parliament . It was introduced in 1999 under the name Edinburgh South as one of nine constituencies in the Lothians electoral region . In the course of the revision of the electoral regions in 2011, the Lothians region was redesigned and renamed Lothian . The boundaries of Edinburgh South were redrawn and the constituency was renamed Edinburgh Southern . The constituency includes the southern areas of Edinburgh and sends one MP.

The constituency covers an area of ​​19.2 km 2 . In the 2011 census survey, a total of 77,561 people lived within its borders.
