Edith Lechtape

Edith Lechtape (born November 20, 1921 in Herne , Westphalia, † August 14, 2001 in Strasbourg ) was a German actress and photo artist.

biography

After a private acting training with Heinz Moog , Edith Lechtape started her first engagement in May 1941 at the “Deutsches Theater Lille” in the then German-occupied France. After the end of the war she worked as an actress in Weimar and Dresden . She was married to the former theater director and actor Peter Hehn , who worked as a businessman in Düsseldorf from 1951, from 1953 until his death. In addition to theater engagements in Osnabrück , Bremen , Bonn , Essen and elsewhere Edith Lechtape worked at various film and radio productions with, so in 1954 under the direction of Eduard Hermann where Paul Temple radio play Paul Temple and the case Jonathan of Francis Durbridge with René Deltgen , Annemarie Cordes and Kurt Lieck in the leading roles.

Through her stepson Roland Hehn , she met the filmmaker and producer Anton Weber , who worked as a film architect at UFA , among others . After Peter Hehn's death in 1964, she began working closely with Weber in the late 1960s. In their “ laboratoire imagier ” in Fréland in the Vosges Mountains , they created innovative experimental photographic art. Exhibitions followed from 1974 in Germany and France.

After Weber's death in 1979, Edith Lechtape continued the photographic work alone. In 1988 she moved to Strasbourg . In her last extensive series of Gossenportraits , she photographed collages made of printed matter that had mostly been thrown away (e.g. portrait scraps, crumpled scraps of paper, crumpled plastic sheets).
