Anton Weber (director)
Anton Weber , also called Toni Weber or Antoine Weber (born August 30, 1904 in Bollschweil ; † June 4, 1979 in Fréland , Alsace, France), was a German film architect , director , screenwriter and photographer.
Life
Anton Weber, born in 1904 in Bollschweil near Freiburg im Breisgau , studied painting with Karl Hubbuch in Karlsruhe , where he also worked on the editorial team of the artist magazine Zakpo . From 1931 he was married to the artist Marta Kuhn-Weber .
In 1934 he began training as a film architect with Robert Herlth in Berlin . From 1936 to 1945 Weber was responsible for the construction of numerous Ufa productions, including La Habanera by Detlef Sierck and Unter den Brücken by Helmut Käutner .
After the war he worked in Freiburg im Breisgau - often under a pseudonym - as a short film director and author of radio plays . In 1965 he moved to Fréland in the Alsatian Vosges, where he developed new photographic concepts under the stage name Antoine Weber in collaboration with the actress Edith Lechtape ( laboratoire imagier ).
