Edoardo Pecoraio

Edoardo Pecoraio (born September 1, 1910 in Sant'Egidio alla Vibrata , Teramo province ; † August 9, 1986 ) was an Italian Roman Catholic clergyman , archbishop and diplomat of the Holy See .

Life

Edoardo Pecoraio studied philosophy and catholic theology at the seminary in Montalto delle Marche and Fano . He received on 26 July 1935, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

After ordination, Edoardo Pecoraio received degrees in literary studies and law . From 1938 he taught at the seminary in Montalto delle Marche. During the Second World War , Pecoraio served as a military chaplain . In 1947 Edoardo Pecoraio became an employee of the Congregation De Propaganda Fide and on October 30, 1961 its undersecretary . He also worked as a trainee lawyer for the Apostolic Signature and participated as a peritus at the Second Vatican Council .

On December 28, 1971, Pope Paul VI appointed him . the titular bishop of Cuma and the Apostolic Nuncio in Malta . Paul VI He received his February 13, 1972 at St. Peter's Basilica , the episcopal ordination ; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Utrecht , Cardinal Bernard Jan Alfrink , and the Archbishop of Armagh , Cardinal William Conway .

In 1974 Edoardo Pecoraio resigned as Apostolic Nuncio in Malta.
