Sant'Egidio alla Vibrata (in the local dialect: Sant'Ilië ) is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 9872 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Teramo in Abruzzo . The municipality is located about 18 kilometers north of Teramo and about 11 kilometers southeast of Ascoli Piceno on the Vibrata River . Sant'Egidio alla Vibrata borders directly on the province of Ascoli Piceno .

history

The area was already settled in ancient Rome. The exact origins are unknown, but a settlement called ILIO has been proven for the first centuries after the birth of Christ.
