Pineto is a municipality of 14,923 inhabitants in the province of Teramo .

Pineto is in the Italian region of Abruzzo . The neighboring municipalities are Atri , Roseto degli Abruzzi and Silvi .

Pineto (Italian pine grove) is named after the pine grove that stretches along the two-kilometer-long sandy beach. On the beach is the Torre di Cerrano (Tower of Cerrano), which was built in Byzantine times as a defense tower against Turkish pirates, but is now used as a laboratory for investigations of the sea.

The Pinetesi (residents) have lived in Pineto since the 1930s, before that most of the citizens came from Mutignano, which is now a fraction of Pineto. The patron saint of the municipality is Sant'Agnese and the local holiday takes place on January 21st.

In the municipality of vines are varieties Montepulciano for the DOC - wine Montepulciano d'Abruzzo grown.
