history

In Roman times the area belonged to the Castrum Rufi (Roman military camp). The remains of it are still visible today. Later the municipality became part of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, and later integrated into the Kingdom of Italy.

The Church of San Antonio Abate and the Church of Santa Maria a Vico (late 10th century) are among the best preserved monuments in the region.

Viticulture
