Edoardo Pulciano

Edoardo Pulciano (born November 18, 1852 in Turin , † December 25, 1911 in Genoa ) was an Italian Roman Catholic clergyman and Archbishop of Genoa .

Life

He came from a noble Piedmontese family who came from Castellazzo Bormida and was the son of the court archivist Pietro Pulciano and his wife Emilia Mangiardi. After studying classical languages and Hebrew , he was on 17 November 1873 by the University of Turin to Dr. theol. PhD . In November 1824 he became a lecturer in Hebrew at the Turin Seminary . Edoardo Pulciano was ordained a priest on May 22, 1875 and was appointed canon of the Turin collegiate church Santissima Trinità . On February 16, 1886, the Archbishop of Turin , Cardinal Gaetano Alimonda , appointed him Vicar General for the Archdiocese of Turin.

Pope Leo XIII. appointed him on March 14, 1887 Bishop of Casale Monferrato . He received his episcopal consecration on May 15, 1887, the Archbishop of Turin Gaetano Cardinal Alimonda; Co- consecrators were Celestino Matteo Fissore , Archbishop of Vercelli , and Giovanni Battista Bertagna , Auxiliary Bishop in Turin. On July 11, 1892, Edoardo Pulciano was appointed Bishop of Novara . On November 16, 1901, he became Archbishop of Genoa.

After his sudden death he was buried on December 28, 1911 in the chapel of the seminary in Chiappeto. In 1965 his remains were in the Baptistery of the Cathedral of Genoa transferred.
