Career

The trained photo lab technician, who had already trained his drawing talent as a youngster by drawing Walt Disney stickers on chocolate packaging, took evening courses at the Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels. In 1955 he was allowed to illustrate some episodes of Les belles histoires de l'Oncle Paul (German "Onkel Paul" Kauka / "Onkel Jo tells" Bastei ) for the Spirou magazine , a series conceived by Jean-Michel Charlier , on which The magazine's young up-and-coming draftsmen were regularly able to prove their worth (other draftsmen in the series include Hermann , Jean Graton and Albert Uderzo ).

In 1956 he moved to Tintin , where he also delivered four-page complete narratives on historical personalities under the pseudonym Joke , which are conceptually based on l'Oncle Paul . After the publication of his first long story Le dossier vert (scenario: André-Paul Duchâteau ), he developed into a formative draftsman for Tintin magazine, among other things because the games page he designed with Bob Binn was a regular feature has been in almost every issue. With Marc Franval (German "Sven Janssen") followed in 1963 a classic adventure series, for which Jacques Acar, later Yves Duval wrote the lyrics. In 1971 he launched the Les Panthères series together with Greg . Four years later he created a one shot for Greg's short-lived magazine Achilles Talon Gour le Ba-Lourh , which humorously varied the subject matter of the Tunga series (primeval times).

In 1979 he and Jean van Hamme presented the Tony Stark adventure series for Super-As magazine . The Toile et la dague series, realized for Dargaud from 1986 onwards and based on scenarios by Jean Dufaux , is set against a historical background .

In 1992 he took over from Dany as a draftsman from Bernard Prince (German " Andy Morgan "), after Greg had decided to continue the series after a long break. In 1995 he broke new thematic territory with the humorous soft erotic series Les Saintes nitouches , for which he temporarily used the pseudonym Hardan .

In 2003 and 2004 the Loup publishing house published several early short stories by Aidans from Tintin in two volumes in the series Les Meilleurs récits de…
