Eduard Adolf Jacobi

Eduard Adolf Jacobi (born December 11, 1796 in Jena , † November 21, 1865 in Gotha ) was a Protestant pastor and teacher .

Life

The son of the superintendent Johann Adolph Jacobi attended the Illustre high school in Gotha and in 1814 went to the University of Göttingen to study theology and philology there. He completed his studies with a doctorate . He then taught at the Göttingen grammar school from 1817 and worked in the local university library . In 1819 he was ordained and accepted a position as vice principal and senior teacher at the Ernestinum Rinteln grammar school .

In 1828 Jacobi, who was known for his eloquence, was appointed First Court Preacher in Coburg , where he was entrusted with the education of Prince Albert , who later became Queen Victoria’s husband , and Ernst , who later became Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha .

In 1832 Jacobi was promoted to senior court preacher and senior consistorial councilor in Gotha. In 1838 he became an honorary basis to his duties in the church, administrative and teaching for a year yet the post of rector of the local high school Illustre , 1845 then the head of Duke's for half a year grammar school whose reputation could he improve again. In 1858 he was then Ministerialrat for Church and School System in Gotha. In this office he died.
