Eduard Eugen Blösch (born February 1, 1807 in Biel / Bienne ; † February 7, 1866 in Bern ) was a liberal-conservative Bernese and Swiss politician .
biography
Blösch was a son of the doctor Johann Alexander Bloesch and a brother of Caesar Adolf Bloesch . After studying law at the University of Bern - where he was Zofinger - and the University of Heidelberg , he worked as a lawyer at JL Schnell in Burgdorf. There he was mayor. In 1838 he became a member of the Bern cantonal parliament and 1841 Landammann chosen in 1848 he became the Military Attorney General of the Army appointed; From 1850 to 1854 he was President of the Bernese government, from 1850 to 1851 a member of the Council of States and from 1851 to 1866 of the Swiss National Council and 1858 President of the National Council . From 1854 to 1866 he was a federal judge and in 1855 its president.
In line with his convictions, Blösch initially followed the idea of regeneration , but rejected the 1848 constitution. He was later forced into the conservative camp. He implemented Bernese laws on community life, the churches and debt collection. He supported the state for economic reasons and was a promoter of the industry. He had a conciliatory effect on the Sonderbund , the Jesuit question and the Aargau monasteries. In 1863 he ran for election to the Federal Council , but had no chance against Karl Schenk .
At the cantonal level, Blösch's influence waned due to the majority of the radicals. He died in the year he was again elected President of the Bernese government.
