Peter Gilg

Peter Gilg (born March 17, 1922 in Bern ; † November 4, 2006 ) was a Swiss historian , political scientist and journalist .

Life

The son of theologian Arnold Gilg studied history , German and geography at the Universities of Bern and Zurich and received his doctorate in history in Bern in 1950. From 1955 to 1965 he was a foreign editor for the newspaper Der Bund . From 1965 to 1987 he worked in a leading position at the Research Center for Swiss Politics (later: Institute for Political Science) at the University of Bern. He was the founder of the Année politique suisse yearbook . In 1964 he received his habilitation , from 1974 to 1987 he was honorary professor for modern history at the University of Bern.
