Eduard Grieben (born January 8, 1813 in Berlin ; † June 10, 1870 there ) was a German landscape painter and etcher .

Life

Grieben was a student of the Academic Copper Engraving School at the Prussian Academy of the Arts in Berlin under Ludwig Buchhorn . From 1834 to 1836 Grieben attended Johann Wilhelm Schirmer's landscape class at the Düsseldorf Art Academy . Between 1826 and 1870 he sent the exhibitions at the Berlin Academy. From 1835 he exhibited in Düsseldorf. He found his motifs mainly in the Spreewald , in Märkische Schweiz , in the Eifel and in the Netherlands .
