Friedrich Eduard von Selchow (born October 13, 1791 in Vehra ; † 1868 ) was a Prussian chamberlain and manor owner .

Life

On his father's side he came from the noble family von Selchow and was the youngest son of the chamberlain Friedrich Wilhelm von Selchow, who was heir, feudal lord and court lord on Vehra and Henschleben . His father died on August 6, 1819 and together with his two older brothers Carl Ludwig (* 1777) and Friedrich Leopold (* 1778) he inherited the paternal manors Vehra and Henschleben in Thuringia. He also had numerous sisters.

Eduard Selchow was already in Ratibor and Rudnick in Upper Silesia during this time and commissioned the governor Friedrich Wurmb auf Großfurra to act for him as an authorized representative in feudal matters in relation to the Naumburg Higher Regional Court . Although it was his duty to personally take the feudal oath, in 1822 he had the court office of his allodial knight's estate in Schonowitz excuse himself that he could not travel to Naumburg, as the administration of the "important Güther Schonowitz, Rudnick and Ponienczitz" would not allow him to do so . The King Friedrich Wilhelm of Prussia thereupon issued him on April 25, 1822 in Berlin the obligation to appear in person before the Higher Regional Court and apologized for the feudal error.

family

Eduard von Selchow married Josepha Friederike von der Marwitz (1802–1869) in 1818 . The marriage produced ten children, of whom Friedrich Wilhelm Eugen von Selchow (1828-1897), Prussian councilor and Knight of Honor of the Order of St. John, and Friedrich Wilhelm Eduard (1830-1880), Prussian Prime Lieutenant , were able to continue the line with sons and daughters.
