Edward W. Schlag
Edward William Schlag (born January 12, 1932 in Los Angeles - † August 11, 2020 ) was an American-German chemist and university professor .
Life
Edward W. Schlag was born in Los Angeles to a German father and an American mother. He grew up temporarily in Germany, but returned to the USA in 1946. From 1949 he studied chemistry at Occidental College in Los Angeles and later received his doctorate at the University of Washington . Then he worked in industry. In 1960 he became Assistant Professor, 1964 Associate Professor and 1969 Full Professor at Northwestern University . In 1965 he was an Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellow . From 1971 to 2000 he was a full professor for physical chemistry at the Technical University of Munich . He has taught as a visiting professor in Great Britain, the United States and Israel. He was u. a. Member of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences , Academia Europaea and the American Physical Society (Fellow).
