Efraím Basílio Krevey

Efraím Basílio Krevey OSBM (born December 12, 1928 in Ivaí , Paraná ; † April 3, 2012 in Curitiba , Paraná) was a Brazilian religious and theologian and bishop of the Eparchy of São João Batista em Curitiba , the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church united with Rome in Brasil.

Life

Efraím Basílio Krevey, born and raised in the Saltinho colony in Ivaí, entered the St. Joseph Seminary in Prudentópolis in 1940 . In 1943 he joined the Order of the Basilians of St. Josaphat in Prudentópolis. After studying philosophical and humanistic studies in Iracema (SC), he graduated in theology from the Roman Gregoriana in 1948 . On January 1, 1950, he made his profession . Shortly after the diaconate in 1951 he received on 12 November 1951, the ordination in the Church of São Sérgio e Bakcha in Rome by the apostolic visitor of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Western Europe and South America , Ivan Bucko . From 1955 to 1959 he was a professor at the St. Joseph seminary and its dean. From 1959 to 1969 he was superior of the São Josafat monastery and novice master with the Sisters of the Immaculate Virgin Mary (Irmãs Maria Imaculada) and the catechists of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (Catequistas do Sagrado Coração de Jesus). In 1969 he became rector of the religious seminary in Prudentópolis and in 1970 provincial of the Basilians.

Pope Paul VI appointed him on November 29, 1971 titular bishop of Caffa and coadjutor bishop of São João Batista em Curitiba . The Pope personally donated to him on February 13, 1972 at St. Peter's Basilica , the episcopal ordination ; Co- consecrators were Bernard Jan Cardinal Alfrink , Archbishop of Utrecht , and William John Cardinal Conway , Archbishop of Armagh .

After José Romão Martenetz 'OSBM retired , he succeeded him on March 10, 1978 as Eparch of São João Batista em Curitiba. On December 13, 2006, Pope Benedict XVI. his age-related resignation.
