Egbert Delpy

Egbert Delpy (born September 28, 1876 in Cologne , † December 7, 1951 in Cologne) was a German art writer , art critic , theater critic and newspaper editor .

Life

Delpy studied art history , music and philosophy in Bonn , Berlin and Heidelberg , where he received his doctorate in 1901 with a thesis on art history. He then became a correspondent for the Kölner Zeitung in Berlin. Afterwards he worked in Berlin from 1904 to 1908 employee of the week and day and from 1908/09 at the Leipziger Neuesten Nachrichten in Leipzig as the responsible editor.

Delpy was also a chess player and chess composer. From 1945 to 1950 he lived in Busdorf (near Schleswig) and moved to Cologne-Braunsfeld (Kornelimünsterstrasse 10) on January 29, 1951 , where he died in the same year.
