Egg Harbor City is a city in Atlantic County , New Jersey , United States . In the census of 2000 had a total population of 4,545 was recorded.
history
Egg Harbor City was founded in 1855 by German-Americans from Philadelphia . For over 50 years it was an island of German language and culture.
Two structures and sites in Egg Harbor City are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) as of September 28, 2018, the Egg Harbor Commercial Bank and the Neutral Water Health Resort Sanitarium .

According to the United States Census Bureau , the city has a total area of 29.9 km² , of which 28.8 km² is land and 1.1 km² (3.73%) is water.
Demographics
As of the 2000 census, there are 4,545 people, 1,658 households and 1,150 families in the city. The population density is 158.0 inhabitants per km². 66.80% of the population are White, 14.19% African American , 0.37% Native American , 1.25% Asian , 0.09% Pacific Islander , 13.49% Other Ethnicity, and 3.81% Mixed Race . 24.55% are Latinos of any race.
Of the 1,658 households, 34.2% have children under the age of 18. 43.7% of them are married couples living together, 20.3% are single mothers, 30.6% are not families, 24.9% are single households and 10.8% are people over 65. The average household size is 2 , 70, the average family size 3.20.
28.3% of the population are under 18 years old, 8.5% between 18 and 24, 29.7% between 25 and 44, 19.6% between 45 and 64, 13.9% older than 65. The average age is 35 years. The ratio of women to men is 100: 93.6, for people older than 18 the ratio is 100: 88.9.
The median income for a household in the city is $ 32,956 and the median income for a family is $ 40,040. Males have a median income of $ 27,978 versus $ 23,560 for females.
