Egon Kracht (born October 29, 1966 in Velsen ) is a Dutch jazz musician ( double bass , composition ).

Live and act

Kracht, who grew up in IJmuiden and Beverwijk , received lessons on the double bass from Hans van Meegen, Wilbur Little and Ernst Glerum . From 1986 to 1991 he studied at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam with Arnold Dooyeweerd and Joop van Liere. He learned to arrange with Misha Mengelberg and Steve Galloway .

As a schoolboy he played in bands such as Syntheless or Begoniah , for which he composed (clearly influenced by Niko Langenhuijsen ). In 1987 he won with the Rock Jazz Trio Trits the Competition Middelsee Jazz meeting in Leeuwarden. In 1997 he became a member of a quartet led by Theo Loevendie and Pierre Courbois ; in the next few years he played regularly in various formations by Courbois, but also with Polo de Haas, Dick de Graaf and Mal Waldron . In 1994 he founded his own Egon Kracht & the Troupe , for which he also composed and arranged. In 2002 he performed an adaptation of Bach's Matthäus Passion with this band , and in the following year with Joe's Garage by Frank Zappa . In later years he wrote his own Judas Passion (2010) and Het Oog van Leonardo (2013) for The Troupe .

He also composed the chamber opera Waarde , which premiered in 2011 in the Haarlem Philharmonic. In the same year his work Stabat Mater, Stabat Pater was premiered in the Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ in Amsterdam. Since 1997 he has also worked with the cabaret artist and singer Maarten van Roozendaal , with whom he recorded several albums; the program Het Wilde Westen was awarded the Poelifinario cabaret prize in 2008 . He also took on Snijders at the turn of the century .
