Ernst Glerum (born April 20, 1955 in Deventer ) is a Dutch jazz double bass player.

Glerum studied double bass at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam. During his studies he played in the Asko Ensemble , a chamber orchestra for contemporary music, and worked with jazz musicians such as Curtis Clark , Hans Dulfer , JC Tans and Theo Loevendie .

In 1984 he founded the Amsterdam String Trio with Maurice Horsthuis and Ernst Reijseger , which then also played the string section of the revived Instant Composers Pool Orchestra . As a member of both ensembles, he took part in international tours and took part in music albums. He is also a member of the Guus Janssen Trio , the Michiel Scheen Quartet , the Trio Continuo , the Bennink / Borstlap / Glerum Trio and the Available Jelly group . He plays the piano in the group Glerum Omnibus (with Clemens van der Feen and Owen Hart ).

Glerum u. a. with Steve Lacy , Lee Konitz , Uri Caine , Teddy Edwards , Bennie Maupin , Jimmy Knepper , Jamaaladeen Tacuma , John Zorn , Bud Shank , Art Hodes , Tristan Honsinger , Ronald Snijders and Don Byron . In 2004 he founded the record label Favorite . He teaches double bass at the Amsterdam Conservatory .
