Clemens van der Feen (* 1980 ) is a Dutch jazz musician ( double bass , bass guitar , composition ) of modern jazz .

Live and act

Van der Feen began singing and playing bass in his older brothers' band ( The Feenbrothers ) at the age of eleven . He later studied jazz and classical bass at the Conservatories of Amsterdam and Detmold and graduated with honors in both fields. He first embarked on a classical career and performed with the Concertgebouw Orchestra and the Orkest van de Achttiende Eeuw . Then he chose jazz and took private lessons in New York from Ben Street and John Patitucci . The first recordings were made in 2004 with Rob van Bavel ( Piano Grand Slam ). In the following years he played a. a. with Reinier Baas , Jasper Blom , Ernst Glerum , Robin Verheyen , Michael Moore , Joost Swart , Cor Bakker , Jesse van Ruller and Francien van Tuinen .

In 2010 he founded the Clemens van der Feen Band . Toots Thielemans was a guest on their album entitled High Places (2011) . In 2012 he recorded the album 14 PM under his own name , on which Paul van der Feen , Harmen Fraanje and Onno Govaert participated. Most recently he continued to work with musicians such as Tutu Puoane , Franz von Chossy , Dré Pallemaerts , Keno Harriehausen , Pablo Held , Sebastian Gille , Marc Copland , Billy Hart , Becca Stevens & Metropole Orkest , Paul Lay , Jason Seizer , Joris Roelofs and Tineke Postma . In the field of jazz he was involved in 21 recording sessions between 2004 and 2016.
