Jasper Soffers

Jasper Soffers (born February 21, 1973 in Bergen op Zoom ) is a Dutch jazz musician ( piano , also synthesizer , composition ).

Live and act

Soffers started playing the piano when he was twelve years old. After graduating from high school, he enrolled at the Rotterdam Conservatory , where he studied with Rob Kreefel and Jan Laurens Hartong. In 1999 he completed his studies as a companion with cum laude .

As a pianist, Soffers is a member of the Metropole Orkest , where he has accompanied soloists such as Gino Vannelli , Bob Brookmeyer , John Scofield , Herbie Hancock and Toots Thielemans . Together with the saxophonist Jan Menu , he leads a quartet with whom he recorded the album Dutch Songbook . He is also part of the Till Brönner Band and the Bart Wirtz Quartet. He can also be heard on albums by Henny Vrienten, Elvis Costello , Barry Hay , Michel Banabila , Markus Stockhausen and Tori Amos .

As a lecturer in jazz piano , he teaches at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag and the Prins Claus Conservatorium . In 2012 he received the sports jacket culture award in his hometown.
