Egon von Neindorff (rider)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Egon von Neindorff (born  November 1, 1923 in Döbeln ; † May 19, 2004 in Karlsruhe ) was the founder and director of a riding school, where he taught the rules of classical riding up to high school .

Life

He received his equestrian training initially from his father, Egon von Neindorff , and later from well-known riding masters such as Felix Bürkner , Richard Wätjen , Ludwig Zeiner , Otto Lörke and Alois Podhajsky . In 1946 Egon moved from Neindorff to Lörrach , founded a riding school with some of the horses he brought with him and held what was probably Germany's first tournament after the Second World War.

From 1947 to 1954 he was extremely successful at tournaments. In 1949 he moved with his horses to the listed riding house of the former telegraph barracks in the north-west of Karlsruhe , where he taught classical riding until his death in May 2004 . Riding art means cultivating the horse's movement with the least amount of effort , says Egon von Neindorff. The result is the horse that is self-supporting in every gait , waiting for the rider's instructions. His riding institute received national and international recognition.

Egon von Neindorff pointed out how much our own attitude to life and our personality always shape our way of riding and that it is precisely the simplicity, the simplicity and the unspectacular that characterize the classical master. This also resulted in his criticism of today's commercialized riding world. Just a few hours before his death, he had been teaching his students.

Foundation and riding institute

In 1991, Egon von Neindorff founded the Egon von Neindorff Foundation , named after him, which the state of Baden-Württemberg and the city of Karlsruhe joined. The aim is to maintain the classical art of riding up to high school through the training of horses and talented riders as well as the promotion of young talent.

The riding institute Egon von Neindorff-Stiftung continues the work of the riding master, which has been going on for over 50 years, in the historical riding hall in Karlsruhe . It is a teaching facility in which the traditional and tried and tested rules of the classic riding theory up to high school are taught - both in the training of riders and horses.

Support association

The "Association of Classical Riding Art according to Egon von Neindorff eV" was founded on January 26th, 1989 with the aim of promoting and maintaining the classic art of riding, as it was and is being taught at the Egon von Neindorff Riding Institute. It continues to serve as a support association for the riding institute of the Egon von Neindorff Foundation.
