Ehrenreich Eichholz

Ehrenreich Eichholz (born September 19, 1807 in Berlin , † January 14, 1871 in Hanover ) was a German editor and writer . As a liberal , he sat in the constituent Reichstag of the North German Confederation .

Life

Eichholz attended the Joachimsthal High School and studied philology and natural sciences at the Friedrich Wilhelms University in Berlin . In 1827 he became active in the Corps Marchia Berlin . He went through the probationary year for the teaching post at Friedrichwerder Gymnasium . He then privatized as a teacher and writer. He was a co-founder and employee of the National-Zeitung and editor of the Neue Stettiner , the Ostseezeitung , the newspaper for Northern Germany and most recently the Deutsche Volkszeitung in Hanover. As a supporter of the Welfs and editor of the Volkszeitung, he was punished several times for his anti-Prussian comments.

In 1846 his book Fates of a Proletarian aroused the displeasure of the king, for which Eichholz was accused. He was defended in the process by the well-known lawyer Leopold Volkmar , who achieved a complete acquittal.

In 1867 Eichholz was a member of the constituent Reichstag of the North German Confederation for the constituency of Hanover 15 ( Lüchow , Uelzen , Dannenberg , Bleckede ) and the federal constitutional association .

At the beginning of the Franco-German War he was of Prussia in imprisonment taken. He died four days before the German Empire was founded at the age of 63.
