The Eilun Feer Skuul ( EFS ) ( German  Insel-Föhr-Schule ) in Wyk auf Föhr is a state high school with a regional school section . The school authority is the Föhr-Amrum office . According to the school, the grammar school section is the smallest grammar school in Schleswig-Holstein with 390 students .

history

The Gymnasium Föhr was established in 1949 through the separation and nationalization of the school from the Carl Hunnius boarding school . After the grammar school was initially housed in a building on Gmelinstraße and from 1953 in a former building of the Deutsche Postgewerkschaft bought by the state in the street Am golf course, the move to the school center on Rebbelstieg took place in 1981 . In 2010, the grammar school was organizationally linked with the secondary school with a main school part, which is also located in the school center, to form a grammar school with a regional school part. Initially, the name of the Föhr-Amrum Office's grammar school and regional school in Wyk auf Föhr was chosen, which was later changed to the North Frisian name Eilun Feer Skuul at the suggestion of the school conference .

building

On the ground floor of the three-storey school center are the classrooms for the orientation level , the computer rooms , the scientific areas, the administration and a cafeteria. There are further classrooms on the two upper floors. There is also a sports hall and a stadium .

Frisian lessons

Since 1963 is the Föhrer school Frisian taught initially in the form of a one-hour, sublevels - Working Group (AG). Today North Frisian is offered in the orientation level as an AG, in the upper level there is a three-hour basic course. The Eilun Feer Skuul is the only secondary school where Frisian is taught. In 2012, for the first time, two female students passed an oral Abitur examination in Frisian.

In 2014, 12th and 13th grade students were awarded the Christian Feddersen Prize for their translation of the radio play Das Schiff Esperanza into North Frisian .

Working groups

At Eilun Feer Skuul there is a Circus AG, a Kutter AG, a Hip Hop AG and an Bio AG (formerly known as the Umwelt AG).

Support associations

The development association Friends of the Gymnasium island Foehr e. V. was founded on July 1st, 1988. In 2012 it merged with the regional school's development association and was renamed the Eilun Feer Skuul e. V.

Because there is no grammar school on the island of Amrum and therefore Amrum pupils who want to acquire the Abitur, after the 10th grade mainly attend the grammar school on the neighboring island of Föhr , the non-profit association for assisted living Amrum pupils on Föhr e . V. founded. He rented a house in Wyk for the Amrum pupils, in which the pupils can live while attending school. The house has 18 rooms and common areas, a kitchen and a laundry room, as well as a garden. A supervisor lives in the neighboring house.
