A hosanna for two scoundrels (original title: Trinità e Sartana figli di… ) is a spaghetti western from 1972, staged by Mario Siciliano . The German-language premiere was on August 11, 1972.

action

Trinità (who is so called because he is from Trinidad) and Sartana commit a bank robbery together. They have been friends for a long time and try to rip each other off, which regularly ends with their prey disappearing or being struck by someone else. This time they seek refuge in the small town of Quintana after their attack. There they soon have to deal with the unpleasant Barton, who wants to take the entire area and does not act squeamishly against the owner farmers. In addition, the Mexican bandit El Tigre is in the area, who also has an account with the two of them. Trinità and Sartana steal two million pesos in gold, but in the whole mess created by the different interests, they end up with empty pockets again.

criticism

The lexicon of the international film saw "a dissolute staged western parody with weird types and turbulent beatings and acrobatics that only create a certain amount of amusement." The director doesn't lack tools, according to Il Resto di Carlino , “but he only strings together epidemically comic scenes. You've seen it and seen it again - and it's getting worse and worse. ” Christian Keßler, on the other hand, attests the director Siciliano's“ inability to tell a story appropriately ”, but it is not about a“ story, but rather more or less stringing it together captivating fun brawls. "

Remarks

The longest of the beating scenes mentioned by the critic Keßler lasts 7 minutes. The film was shot together with 100 Fists and an Our Father , which is similar in all respects .
