“Michael Knof had his own instruction booklet when he recently directed Oscar Wilde's comedy An Ideal Husband for the screen. He understood the story of the refined Miss Cheverley, peppered with biting irony by Wilde, who gets to the point of snobbish high society in her own way, more as a crude, farcical piece than a light-footed tabloid comedy.
