society

Elsterberger BC was founded in 1912 from a merger of the sports club 1910 Elsterberg and Sportfreunde Elsterberg in the small town in Vogtland. The club played in the championship rounds of the Gau Osterland and Zwickau / Plauen until 1945 , but ultimately failed in the 1930s due to possible promotion to the Gauliga Sachsen at SpVgg. 1899 Leipzig and at Dresdner FC 1893 prematurely. The EBC appeared nationwide in 1935. After victories over Fortuna Leipzig , the CBC 1899 and Union Oberschöneweide , the club qualified for the first main round in the Tschammerpokal 1935 , in which Elsterberg was defeated by 1. SV Jena in two games .

In 1945 the club was dissolved and re-established as SG Elsterberg . The sports group played in the 1947/48 season for one season in the State League West Saxony, one of the highest post-war leagues in the SBZ .

In 1948 the name was changed to ZSG Elsterberg , and in 1951 the name was changed again to BSG Chemie Elsterberg . On a sporting level, Chemie Elsterberg was a founding member of the Gera district league founded in 1952 . In the first two seasons, the BSG was runner-up behind Chemie Jena and Chemie Kahla , and Chemie Elsterberg was promoted to the third-class 2nd GDR league together with Stahl Silbitz and Einheit Rudolstadt in 1957. The 2nd GDR league rose Elsterberg left again, but returned the following season. After relegation, Chemie Elsterberg merged with Progress Elsterberg to form the Elsterberg BSG unit . The league held unity until its dissolution in 1963.

Subsequently, unit Elsterberg commuted without exception between the Gera district league and district class until 1990. Since 1990 the association has been called SV Einheit , in 1996 the historical name Elsterberger BC was adopted again. With the transfer of the city of Elsterberg from Thuringia to Saxony, the club moved to the Chemnitz district league in 1992, but currently only plays in the Vogtland district class area.
