Hartmut Rentzsch (born February 2, 1944 ) is a former German soccer player and soccer coach .
Athletic career
Beginnings in Karl-Marx-Stadt
After playing in the youth teams of BSG Motor Netzschkau , Hartmut Rentzsch joined the football section of SC Motor Karl-Marx-Stadt in 1961 , whose men's team played in the second-rate GDR league . In the 1961/62 season , which was played because of the change from the calendar year rhythm to the summer-spring season with 39 games , the team was promoted to the GDR league . Rentzsch, who had also completed an apprenticeship as a machinist, stayed in Karl-Marx-Stadt until the end of the 1963/64 season , where he completed 22 games in three league years in which he scored seven goals.
Successful in Zwickau
In the summer of 1964 Rentzsch moved to the district rival Motor Zwickau , who had only just barely escaped relegation from the league in the past season. Mostly playing as a center forward, Rentzsch introduced himself well to Westsachsen in the first season, with eleven championship goals he was the most successful shooter of his team. Thanks to his goals, Zwickau achieved a secured midfield position in the top division. A year later, Rentzsch was again the Zwickau's most accurate shooter, even if this time it only managed eight goals. He celebrated his most successful season in 1966/67. On April 30, 1967, he and his team won the GDR Cup final against Hansa Rostock . In the 3-0 victory, he contributed one goal. After the last league match day, he won his second trophy, with 17 championship goals he was the top scorer in the top division of GDR football . After he had completed 225 league games for Motor / Sachsenring Zwickau, Rentzsch withdrew from active competitive sport in 1975.
Selection bets
As a player for Motor Karl-Marx-Stadt, Hartmut Rentzsch was featured ten times in the GDR junior team between April 1961 and May 1962 . During this period he was the most successful goalscorer with four goals. With the U-18s he took part in the UEFA junior tournament, the unofficial European championship of this age group, in the spring of 1962 , but did not make it to the semi-finals of the finals in Romania with the GDR juniors despite two wins in the preliminary round.
In his time in Zwickau Rentzsch was called up in a game of the B national team. In September 1967 Rentzsch came on in Eisenach against Hungary (2-1) in the 78th minute for Gerd Backhaus .
Trainer
After his active football career, Rentzsch began to work as a football coach. At Sachsenring Zwickau he was assistant coach from 1977 to 1982, in between in the 1978/79 season coach of the Sachsenring team in the junior league . From 1985 to 1987 the trained Rentzsch Bezirksliga team of Greika Greiz and then went to BSG unit Elsterberg .
