Ekbert Hering

Ekbert Hering (* 1943 in Stuttgart ) is a German physicist and economist . From 1997 to 2007 he was rector of Aalen University . He is the author of more than fifty specialist books on technical and business topics.

Life

After graduating from high school in 1963, Hering studied physics at the University of Stuttgart and the University of Hamburg until 1968 . He received his doctorate in 1971 at the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research in Stuttgart on the subject of superconductivity .

Hering began a second degree in 1970 parallel to his doctorate. Until 1975 he studied business administration at the Universities of Stuttgart and Mannheim . In this subject he received his doctorate in 1984 with the subject of strategic planning in small and medium-sized companies .

In the 1971 summer semester, he was appointed professor at the Aalen University of Applied Sciences (now Aalen University ) to teach physics , computer science and electrical engineering materials in the metal processing and materials science department .

In 1977, Hering was an assistant to the executive board of Siemens in Heidenheim during a research semester. There he worked with Boston Consulting in strategic planning, strategic marketing and business process reengineering .

His teaching activities at Aalen University included physics , computer science , controlling and system dynamic simulation . He taught operations research at the vocational academy (now a dual university ) in Heidenheim . From 1994 to 1997 he was Dean of the Faculty of Economics at Aalen University.

From March 1997 to December 2007 he was rector of Aalen University . In his era, u. a. the media center with sound and television studio (2001), the center for optical technologies (2003), the new buildings on the Burren campus (2006) and numerous endowed chairs. New courses such as international business administration , business administration for small and medium-sized companies , computer science and ophthalmic optics and hearing acoustics increased the number of students to 3860 by 2007.

He has been with Christiane Hering, b. Festing is married and has two children. He is an active violinist and co-founder of the Aalen Symphony Orchestra . His personal passions include collecting fossils and writing rhymes . In 1972 he self-published the booklet, which is now in its fourth edition, Shaking Before Use with his shaking rhymes. He is the annual handicraft speaker at the Aalen Carnival.

Honors

On November 21, 2008 he was honored by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Culture for his voluntary work at the Aalen Carnival Guild for Sauren Meckereck as a handmade paper speaker since 1981 with the stag at the Golden Fleece .

On April 27, 2009, he received the Federal Cross of Merit for his achievements in the development of Aalen University and his voluntary work .

On February 22, 2013 he was awarded the third honorary doctorate from the Kalashnikov Izhevsk State Technical University in Izhevsk .
