Ekkehard Hörmann
Ekkehard Hörmann von Hörbach (born September 17, 1933 in Innsbruck ; † October 4, 2014 there ) was an Austrian architect .
Life
Hörmann studied architecture at the Graz University of Technology and then worked in Willi Stigler's office in Innsbruck until he started his own business in 1962. From 1971, shortly after the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture at the University of Innsbruck was founded , until 1993 he taught together with Othmar Barth at the Institute for Design and Interior Design. Hörmann went to great lengths to restore Berneck Castle in Kauns , where he had had his studio since 1981.
Hörmann's architecture is characterized by the interplay of new and old and the sensitive handling of old building fabric based on extensive knowledge. His increase in the Innsbruck Commercial Academy, built in 1904–1906 in the “Tyrolean Gothic” style, is considered exemplary and in 1976 earned him the prize of the Central Association of Architects in Austria .
