Othmar Barth

Othmar Barth (born May 22, 1927 in Brixen ; † January 15, 2010 there ) was an Italian architect. His work is considered to be groundbreaking for the development of modern architecture in South Tyrol .

Life

Barth studied from 1947 to 1952 at the Technical University of Graz Architecture at Friedrich Zotter , Karl Raimund Lorenz and Karl Hoffmann . From 1953 to 1955 he worked for Annibale Vitellozzi in Rome . After spending three years in Rome, he opened his own office in his hometown of Bressanone in 1955.

His estate was purchased by the South Tyrolean Provincial Archives in 2016 .

Teaching

In 1971 Barth held a teaching position at the University of Innsbruck and from 1975 to 1994 he was professor for interior design and design at the University of Innsbruck.
