Ekkehard Prophet (born July 16, 1938 on Rügen ; † November 19, 2014 ) was a German actor , director and theater manager .

Ekkehard Prophet was born in 1938 on the island of Rügen as the sixth child of a pastor . Prophet studied at the Academy of Dramatic Arts "Ernst Busch" Berlin theater and was considered a director squad . He initially had jobs at the Zwickau Theater , where, in addition to his own acting, he also directed for the first time in 1966/1967 or 1976 . At times he was acting as head of the house. From 1981 to 1986 he moved to the Rudolstadt Theater as artistic director , where he renovated and converted the ailing playhouse. In addition to his work as artistic director, he was still on stage, for example in the 1984/85 season in Die Aula based on the novel of the same name by Hermann Kant . In 1986 Prophet left Rudolstadt and moved to the Volkstheater Rostock until 1989 , before moving to the Brandenburg Theater in Brandenburg an der Havel in the 1990/91 season . There he was appointed general manager by the city ​​council .

In 1992, when he was director of the BT, the foundation stone was laid for the new studio stage (part of the CulturCongressCentrum since 2000 ). In 1994, Prophet was dismissed from his post on charges of serving with the State Security . However, he remained loyal to the Brandenburger Theater as an actor and from 1995 had several guest contracts in the house. He appeared on stage 57 times in the role of Tevje in the play Anatevka . He stayed at BT as an actor for a total of five years.
